I've spent eight years running enterprise infrastructure, currently at AutoTrader.ca, before that Mastermind Toys and NFP Canada. Data centers, firewalls, VMware, Azure and AWS, Active Directory. When something broke at 2am, I was the person they called, and the person who made sure it didn't break the same way twice.
A couple of years ago I started building my own products on nights and weekends. That turned into FocusFlow and CueCam, both live on the App Store, and Creastora, a resume platform taking real Stripe payments. Every part of them is mine: the design, the Swift and TypeScript, the App Store review cycles, the DNS.
The combination is the point. I build features like a product engineer and operate them like an infrastructure engineer, because I've been on call for both when they go wrong.
